Description

The Cinnamon Cockatiel, also known as the Fallow or Isabel, is a striking mutation where the typical grey colour is replaced by a warm, soft brown or cinnamon shade, often giving the bird a delicate, elegant appearance. The characteristic orange cheek patches and white wing patches are still present, but the overall body colour is a beautiful, muted tone. In terms of personality, they are identical to the standard Cockatiel: they are intelligent, docile, affectionate, and enjoy mimicking simple tunes or sounds. They are excellent family pets, known for their easy-going nature and adaptability to different living situations.

Tamability and Maintenance: Like all Cockatiels, the Cinnamon variant is highly tamable and thrives on interaction, making a wonderful companion for both beginners and experienced bird owners. They require moderate maintenance, which includes a clean cage, fresh food, and daily social time. Consistency in routine is key to their well-being. A medium-sized cage that allows for flight is necessary, along with a variety of toys for foraging and chewing. Cockatiels are dusty birds and need regular bathing opportunities to maintain feather health. Diet must be balanced to prevent obesity and illness. The core of their diet should be a formulated Cockatiel pellet, making up around 75%. This is to be supplemented with fresh, washed vegetables (e.g., bell peppers, sweet potato, green beans) and small amounts of fruit. Millet spray and limited seed mixes can be used as training treats.
